From 2001-2019, the average number of Veteran suicides per day has risen to 17.2. For decades, more officers die by their own hand than in the line of duty. Great work has been done to work with the invisible wounds that these brave men and women struggle with, but more work needs to be done. The Bruised Badge was created to provide confidential counseling and departmental training to veterans and officers who struggle with suicidal ideation, moral injury, PTSD and vicarious trauma. Without help, the invisible wounds veterans and police officers struggle with can lead to isolation, addiction, and suicide. Our goal is to raise $50,000 to provide counseling and training to veterans and officers who are struggling with moral injury, PTSD, suicidal ideation and vicarious trauma.
